LiveWire Reports Strong Q2 Sales Growth and Strategic Moves Amid Ongoing Losses

LiveWire Group, the electric vehicle company spun off from Harley-Davidson, reported a 55% increase in consolidated revenue for the second quarter of 2026, reaching $9.1 million. The growth was driven by a 386% surge in electric motorcycle unit sales compared to the same period in the previous year, with the company selling 267 motorcycles versus 55 in Q2 2025.

The company's results, announced on July 23, 2026, also showed growth in its other business segment, STACYC, which produces electric balance bikes for children. Despite the revenue growth, LiveWire continues to operate at a loss, reporting a consolidated net loss of $18.2 million for the quarter. This represents a slight improvement from the $18.8 million net loss recorded in the second quarter of 2025.

Strategic Expansion and Market Position

In its quarterly report, LiveWire highlighted several strategic initiatives. The company commenced production of its new S4 Honcho platform, aimed at a more accessible segment of the electric motorcycle market. Additionally, in May 2026, LiveWire completed the acquisition of Dust Motorcycles, a move intended to accelerate its entry into the electric off-road vehicle category.

According to the company, it holds a 76% market share in the U.S. for on-road electric motorcycles in the 50+ kilowatt segment. However, the overall market for high-powered electric motorcycles remains a small niche compared to the traditional motorcycle industry.

Financial Health and Market Reaction

LiveWire has focused on improving its financial discipline, reporting a 19% year-to-date improvement in free cash flow compared to 2025, though the figure remains negative. The company continues to rely on funding from its majority shareholder, Harley-Davidson.

Investor sentiment reacted strongly to the Q2 earnings report. The company's stock, which had been trading below $1 per share and received a non-compliance notice from the New York Stock Exchange in July, surged dramatically following the announcement. The share price more than doubled in the days after the results were released, highlighting the stock's volatility.

LiveWire was established as a standalone brand in 2021 and became the first publicly traded electric motorcycle company in the U.S. after going public through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) in September 2022. Harley-Davidson retains an approximate 74% majority stake in the company.
